Ingredients
4 serving
-
Flour: 300 grams (about 2 cups)
-
Water: 150 grams (about ¾ cup minus 1 tablespoon)
-
Salt: ½ teaspoon (about 3 grams)
-
Butter and oil mixture: make sure there is more oil (to be drizzled later)
Filling Ingredients:
-
8 ounces ground beef
-
½ small onion, finely chopped
-
¼ teaspoon garlic powder
-
Handful of chopped spinach (optional)
-
Salt and pepper to taste
Filling Instructions:
-
Cook the ground beef in a pan until browned.
-
Add the chopped onion and cook until softened.
-
Add the spices (salt, pepper, garlic powder) and cook to combine.
-
Stir in the spinach and cook until wilted.
-
Make sure the filling is dry before using.
Dough Instructions
-
Combine the flour, water, and salt in a bowl, then knead the dough until smooth, about 8 to 10 minutes.
-
Divide the dough into 4 equal pieces.
-
Oil each dough ball, cover with plastic wrap, and let rest for 45 minutes.
-
After resting, stretch each ball as thin as possible, making it almost see-through.
-
If the edges are too thick, trim them.
-
Drizzle the butter and oil mixture on top, then add your filling along the edge.
-
Roll the dough tightly into a log, and stretch it again to keep it even.
-
Coil the log into a spiral to form one large Barak.
-
Once spiraled, drizzle more oil on top.
-
Preheat the oven to 450°F and bake until golden brown, about 15 to 20 minutes.
Tips
A little filling is enough to achieve the prefect flake, and make sure filling is fully dry.
